WASHINGTONIA ROBUSTA Direct Observation: Towering thin trunks, green fan leaves. Seem to be plentiful throughout the Palm Springs area. Anecdotal: Differentiated from the closely related washingtonia filfera by having greener, more densely packed leaves, and taller, skinnier trunks. Notions: So numerous are the types of palm trees that novice classification can appear overwhelming. In the spirit of the aforementioned, the scorpions present Washingronia Robusta in hopes they arent too far astray from taxanomic accuracy. Sentiments: Grimowing up in the Los Angeles area, there was a large washingtonia in our front yard. Many evenings were spent sitting on the fence beside it, wondering if its essence was whispering the secrets of fecundity into my musing.
